Come and visit our new Community Fridge!
We have opened a ‘Community Fridge’ to make good quality food freely available to our families and to local people - and we’d love you to come and visit!
It’s a way of stopping good food ending up in the bin, and promoting a spirit of sharing and mutual support within a community.
👋 The Fridge is open between 1:30pm and 2:30pm every Thursday during term time, and anyone can visit.
What is a Community Fridge?
How do I access the Fridge?
Meet our Academy Community Pioneer!
Mrs Aasim and Mrs Shaw have made this all possible by finding a suitable place in the school to store the food and building relationships with local food businesses. They have also been supported by Mrs Ratcliffe, our Academy Community Pioneer. She works with us on Thursdays at Princeville to help support our community to become even stronger and more vibrant.
Mrs Ratcliffe has really enjoyed meeting our families at the Community Fridge. She says,
“A Community Fridge is a way of bringing the community together. We’re very friendly and approachable here. There’s no means testing and we’re not here to judge anyone that visits. We’re just grateful to those families who come and support us.”
In the future we look forward to watching our Community Fridge grow and develop. We’d love to let our wonderful pupils get more involved in things like helping us checking the dates on food, sorting and arranging the donations and getting it ready for our families. We’d also love to partner with more local businesses who have food going to waste, and they are invited to contact the school.
