3rd January 2021 – Back to School

Dear parents/carers

I hope you have had a restful Christmas holiday, and an enjoyable Christmas for those celebrating. It has been an unusual Christmas, but I certainly valued the opportunity to stop and rest. The past year has been unprecedented, and I know it has been difficult for all of you too, so I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for your support and understanding throughout 2020.

I would also like to wish you a Happy New Year, and to say with optimism that despite the inevitable setbacks, challenges in parts of the UK, and the occasional disruption, I feel confident that some normality will return later this year.

At the same time, I know you might be anxious and apprehensive. I want to reassure you that we continue to work hard to ensure that we have all possible measures in place to ensure that the operation of the school is as safe as it can possibly be.

We’ve worked really hard over the past few days to plan for a safe and organised return to school. We’re really looking forward to seeing you all; we’ve missed you!

We’ll still need your support to make things run safely and smoothly.

Pick-up and Drop-off routines

It’s as important as ever that we’re on time, to keep the numbers of people on the site at any time to a minimum. So just a reminder of the arrangements we have in place:

Arrive late?
You won’t be able to come through the school office. Instead you will need to wait with your child outside their classroom door.

Children in different year groups?
You’ll need to drop off those in the 8:45 slot first and wait in the playground to drop off other children – please think carefully about where you wait.

Different year groups begin and end the school day at different times. We really need you to be on time for your allocated slot;

One-way system

A one-way system remains in place.

Entrances to the site are located on Willowfield Street and Princeville Street.

Exit will only be via the drive gates on Willowfield Street, the main gate on Princeville Street, and the Early Years gate on Irton Street.

Please follow the signs at all times, use hand sanitiser, and observe social distancing.

In order to ensure our pupils and staff remain as safe as possible, we will not be allowing parents into the building unless they have a prior appointment.

Masks

Masks must be worn by adults on the school site at all times. If you don’t have a face covering, you won’t be allowed onto the site (if you’re exempt, please speak to the school office).

Cleaning procedures

All classrooms continue to be cleaned thoroughly at the end of each day. In addition, we have additional cleaning routines which take place regularly within the school day. These measures are on top of limited movement around the building

Hygiene

Children will be guided to wash their hands on entry to school, at the start and end of outdoor play, before eating and before returning home as a minimum. Tissues are available in all classrooms.

❌ No toys or personal belongings can be brought to school.
✅ Children need to wear school uniform at all times – send an extra layer, as windows will be open for ventilation.
✅ Please send children with a book bag, coat and packed lunch if required.

Covid-19 symptoms and track and trace

If anyone in your household has symptoms of COVID-19 (continuous cough, fever and loss or change in sense of smell or taste) you should all stay at home and immediately arrange for the person to be tested. Visit https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/ for more information, or to arrange a test. If you are contacted by NHS Test and Trace service and told you or your household member has been in contact with someone with COVID-19, you should follow their advice to self-isolate to protect yourself and others.

Please let school know if your child is staying at home because someone in your household has symptoms or they are identified as a contact. If your child is unwell, please keep them off school and inform us if they are displaying any COVID-19 symptoms of: high temperature or new, continuous cough or loss or change to sense of smell or taste.

We know that you might be anxious, but cases in Bradford are much lower than they have been in the past, and there is no sign of the new strain of Covid-19 circulating widely here yet. If the situation changes, we’ll keep you posted.

Looking forward to seeing you in the morning.

Yours Sincerely,

Mr Ryan Lewis
Headteacher
