18th December 2020 – End of Term Update

Dear parents/carers,

After a difficult but successful term, I just wanted to write to say thank you for your support throughout. Without your commitment to working at home, understanding and support, our children would not have ended this year with the confidence and learning they have. We feel confident that we can look forward with optimism to the New Year.

There are a few important notes to share before we settle into the holiday period.

Holmes (and goodbye to Mrs Coote)
Following the news that Mrs Coote will be retiring, although not completely, I just wanted to let you all know that Holmes class will be taught by Mrs Juneja, who joined our teaching team last week.

We’re sad to say goodbye to Mrs Coote after almost nine years at Princeville, and I know many of you will be too. We wish Sharon well in whatever the future may bring, and in whatever exciting new endeavour she may choose; she has been a real asset to the school, and we will certainly miss her in the New Year.

We’ve had one or two other staffing changes in school too:

    • Mr Raistrick has secured a promotion, and has started his new role at Beckfoot
Heaton. We welcome back Mr Fidaa, who was an apprentice at Princeville not long
ago, and will replace Mr Raistrick as our Cover Supervisor in Year 5.
    • We welcome Mrs Zia, who will work as our Covid Catch-up teacher across school,
supporting children with making up for the learning time they lost during the
lockdown, and at times since, due to isolation. Mrs Zia will be working with groups
of children in Year 6 and Year 2 next half-term.
    • We also say goodbye to Mrs Ayub (Early Years Practitioner), and Mrs Barrett (School
      Business Manager)

Good luck to those who move to pastures new, and a warm welcome to those joining the Princeville community.

Covid Test and Trace
We have been asked to continue to monitor and respond to positive cases of Covid-19 within the school community. We will need your support to be able to do this. If your child develops symptoms, goes for a test, or has a positive result before Christmas Eve, please can I ask that you contact me on 01274 442196, I will be available between 9am and 5pm. Should you not be able to contact me by telephone, you can text 07926817969, or email

The above contact information should also be used for any safeguarding matters during the holiday. If you have any problems with Co-op Vouchers, provided for children who receive Free School Meals, please email princeville@coopacademies.co.uk

I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable holiday, and I look forward to seeing you all back on Monday 4th January. I will write before we return with details of our updated Risk Assessment and arrangements for the new term.

Merry Christmas to those who are celebrating.
